The Secret Power of Brands

I sighed up for the Future Learn course on The secret Power of Brands. This was a great insight into Branding and learning what a brand stands for.

I really liked the quote from Jeff Bezos, founder of Amazon.com – “Your brand is what other people say about you when you are not in the room” I am going to ensure i think about this through my branding designs for Katie Price and myself.

What is Brand – Definition 

  • The set of ideas a company or product stands for in peoples minds
  • Shaped by that company or products actions
  • Recognised through a visual or verbal style

Brands have changed and evolved over time. In the beginning, branding started with burning cattle with markings signifying ownership.

Branding is a sense of belonging and having an emotional connection with the consumer. Coca cola for example – not just a brand but an experience for their audience – Slogan “Taste the feeling”

Brands make us want to buy by the functional needs and satisfying social needs, feeling love, belonging and achievement. They win our custom by figuring out the motivation behind the customer behaviour. Take Nike for example… NIKE = WINNERS. Slogan “Just do it”

We feel good when wearing expensive brands, even though others cannot always see the label, we feel we have achieved.
