Slide 5 of Story Board

Using inspiration from the Robot in the design museum exhibition, i wanted to emphasise on the connection between machine and man and how working together achieves a powerful result. The voice playing on the page says “You’re a Team, Machine & Man. Use the power together to drive the tank to VICTORY! – PLAY FOR FREE”

I used appropriate imageS from the website – WOT

Digital Story Board – Presentation

screenshot-2017-03-06-10-03-50

  1. My concept is to engage the user at first instance, using Experience DesignCognition, Sensory perception and Emotion.  I was trying to get into a mans head and how they feel about machinery. Having the power to control a machine excites them, brings an adrenalin rush. I thought combining real images from the war and placing them in the game would incorporate more meaning to people.

The home page automatically comes to life with a deep voice saying: “Lets prepare you for BATTLE” Exciting dramatic music is playing throughout the video which is psyching the player up to play the game

2.Moves on to a interactive heart rate monitor, with the sound of a fast beating heart beat in the background – its showing a build of excitement, engaging the user

screenshot-2017-03-06-10-04-10

3. Then onto showing ADRENALIN at work – Deep voice goes onto say :- Adrenalin improves the performance of the man behind the machine – Improves REACTION TIME, increases MENTAL ALERTNESS. The tanks will move forward into the screen and the Adrenalin Neurotransmitter will be moving around in the background

screenshot-2017-03-06-10-04-24

4. Then moves onto show Human Intuition, another underlying important factor to use on the battle field  – You protect your brothers – you have their backs. I wanted to incorporate something i learnt from my research, when a veteran watched a film based on a tank crew fighting in the war, of which he said – “The movie’s violence was intense but could not match the intense emotion he felt with his comrades”

The voice over says: “Listen to your Intuition. The Tank is your home, inside is your family…”

The next slide shows Human Intuition, another underlying important factor to use on the battle field  – You protect your brothers – you have their backs.

I used a silhouette of soldiers, and combined this with WOT image of a tank and an old photograph of another to bring the story to life

Slide 3 of Story Board

I collected a collage of images to combine and relate the message i sketched for the next story board – Adrenalin at work.

Deep voice goes onto say :- Adrenalin improves the performance of the man behind the machine – Improves REACTION TIME, increases MENTAL ALERTNESS. The tanks will move forward into the screen and the Adrenalin Neurotransmitter will be moving around in the background

I used a scientific neurotransmitter to signify adrenalin and bring in something different to the style of WOT

I decided to change the background to a different image of the neurotransmitter adrenalin to fit the digital scene with the other images and WOT style

Sketches of story idea

I sketched out ideas taken from inspiration from the world of tank website, showing a story board for the website homepage.

Research ideas

Ways to capture the emotion….

These are some semiotics i found online that show Adrenalin that i will incorporate in my design  – MAN – HEART – HEARTBEAT – SCIENTIFIC – MOLECULAR STRUCTURE

This video shows my idea of an excite heart rate across the home screen, showing adrenalin at work – Adrenalin improves the performance of the man behind the machine

Below is a representative of human Intuition, another underlying important manor to use on the battle field

You protect your brothers – you have their backs

soldiers-cards

This is photograph below shows the view from the Turret of the Tiger into a valley of Italy. This angle is showing the player in the tank, letting them see as if they were there in the tank, looking out into the wide open space battle field, using their intuition….

The tank is your home… inside is your conrad family

You are a team…. Machine and Man

Listen to your intuition…Feel the adrenalin

Use your power to drive the tank to victory!

WOTX – Videos

To understand what the World of Tanks were about i checked out some of their videos online from both their website trailers and You Tube

Gamers you Tube videos

The videos i watched were not as bad as i were expecting for a war game. The music behind these videos make them feel hyped and fun, with an upbeat sound.

I can see why they want to come at the campaign at a different angle, adding in more emotion and user connection to the game as this is something i feel this lacks and i hope by thinking and focusing on the human connections i can bring this through in my design.
